About Us
Rainhill Civic Society was founded in 1968. Its objective is to stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the township of Rainhill.
A committee of about 15 members organises a programme of events each year which includes speaker presentations, outside trips and practical projects to improve the environment in the Township.
An important task is to monitor all planning applications relating to the area and to send comments on these applications to the planning authority.
Each year the Society organises Rainhill in Bloom, a competition for the best gardening display in a front garden. Every year an increasing number of entrants hopes to win the Rosebowl presented to the Society by the Rainhill Parish Council
The Society is a registered charity, number 509638. Membership is open to all residents of Rainhill, and to anyone who supports the aims of the Society, the current annual subscription being £7 family membership and £5 for individuals.
All speaker presentations are open to the public.
Members' subscriptions are used for the everyday running expenses of the Society, such as room hire, speaker fees, insurance, as well as for special projects, though we apply for grants for some of these. Full accounts are presented at the AGM each April. The Society organises occasional members-only events in addition to the main programme of open meetings.
You can join at any meeting - please introduce yourself to a committee member or officer of the Society. You can also submit an application by completing an on-line form. Follow this link If you are in Rainhill someone will then call to collect your subscription. If you are elsewhere we will get in touch with you.
