Private John Andrew REID of the King's Own Scottish Borderers is buried in St Bartholomew's churchyard. He died on 25th August 1943. His name does not appear on the Cenotaph and nothing more is known why he should be buried in Rainhill.  Can you help? If so pleased get in touch via our Contact Page.

In May 2016, Rainhill Civic Society was contacted by Ivana Mihailovic in Serbia asking if we could help to trace her grandfather Alexander Nincic who served in the Yugoslavian Navy during WW2. He was wounded and eventually ended up in Rainhill Hospital where he died aged 22.

Read how the story unfolded by visiting the page of Alexander NINCIC.
