In December 1914, the seven sons of Patrick and Alice Corcoran of 43, Cherry Street, Earlestown, Newton-le-Willows went to enlist in the army.
​
At the time of enlistment, the brothers worked in various collieries around Earlestown and Haydock.

Of the seven brothers four survived, Thomas, Patrick, James and Joseph
