Ernest was born in Huyton Quarry to Ernest and Anne Jones
Little is known of his wartime service except that he fought in Egypt and Palestine and stayed on after the end of the war in 1918. He wrote many long letters home including one of 22 pages from Jerusalem,
He married Norah Birkett at St Ann's, Rainhill in 1930 and lived in Blundells Lane. They had one daughter, Anne who was born in Blundells Lane.
Ernest was cremated at Widnes Crematorium in 1970.
