Peter was born in 1888, the elder brother of Edward Black of the same address at The Holt. He and his brother were in the same regiment.
His occupation at the outbreak of war was a broach maker.
Records indicate that while on active service he was admitted to hospital on a couple of occasions suffering from eczema.
Surviving papers show his signature acknowledging receipt of the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
